READINGS FROM THE PSALMSGod is our refuge and strength, In his most trying hour, Jesus turned to the Psalms to express himself in prayer: “My God, my God! Why hast thou forsaken me?” (ps. 22.1). If it was good enough for him, it is good enough for us. Generations of Jews and Christians alike have found power in praying the Psalms as Jesus did on the cross. Here, we provide a daily psalm with the suggestion that you consider incorporating it into your daily prayers.

READINGS FROM THE NEW TESTAMENT GOSPELSAnd he cometh, and findeth them sleeping, and saith unto Peter, “Simon, sleepest thou? Couldest not thou watch one hour? Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak" (mark 14.37-38). It is impossible to overestimate the power and importance of the N.T. Gospels. Everywhere else when God's thoughts, words, and actions are discussed, it is in the third person: "he thinks," "he says," "he does." But in the N.T. Gospels, all of God's thoughts, words, and actions are in the first person: "I think," "I say," "I do." No where is the revelation of God and His character more accurate and intimate.
